Participants must be in college or recent college graduates (undergraduate or master’s level, or equivalent). International students are welcome.

Composers
Application Requirements
- On-line application form. Composers will be paired with ensembles upon acceptance.
- a portfolio of 2-3 compositions (chamber music or other) with recordings if at all possible
- A curriculum vitae that includes a list of works with instrumentation, timings and performances.

Pre-formed Groups

Preference is given to the following pre-formed groups:
- String quartet
- Woodwind quintet
- Brass quintet
- Saxophone quartet (SATB)
- Piano trio
- Piano quartet
- String quintet
Pre-formed groups not listed above may also apply and may be accepted at the discretion of the program faculty.
The recording should have high-quality sound, and should contain music that demonstrates the technical and interpretive qualities of the group auditioning.
Individual Performers

Individual students must play one of the following instruments:
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Double Bass
- Piano
- Flute
- Oboe
- Clarinet
- French Horn
- Bassoon
- Saxophone
- Trumpet
- Trombone
- Tuba
Individual students may be accepted at the discretion of the program faculty.
The recording should have high-quality sound, and should contain music that demonstrates the technical and interpretive qualities of the individual auditioning.
Composers

Composers accepted into the Institute will be matched with a participating chamber music group before arrival. Composers will bring a new work to be performed by that group at the Thursday Composer’s Concert, will work with the ensemble during the week, and will receive feedback from the CMI faculty.
CMI participants will have access to the School of Music computer lab which includes Yamaha XG-midi workstations, Finale 2007 and Sibelius 4.0 software. Printing is also available. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops as wireless connections are also available.
