Reason for picture caption differences in Firefox vs. IE??

Postby Alice Henneman » Mon May 01, 2006 6:37 pm

I just did my first Web page with the new templates and it passed validation. However, I noticed the captions under the pictures looked just fine in IE and extended out beyond the images in firefox.

Any thoughts on why it would do this? The page is at

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Hey Alice,

very nice work, especially on the validation.

It looks like the problem is with the table that holds the caption.

<table width="100%" border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="5" class="calloutbox">

It looks like there are a couple declarations fighting each other. The calloutbox class on the captions is defined as 24 ems... and you also have a width declaration with cellpadding. So it could be both of these things.

I would try changing the table declaration to something like this:
<table style="width:100%;" class="calloutbox">

and see if that fixes your problem. If not... post back and we'll try again!
