Templates display badly in IE on one particular PC

This post may be more tech support than web development--sorry--but one of our PCs here in Grad Studies isn't correctly rendering sites using the new templates. Pages look fine in Firefox but there are problems in IE.

In IE (6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2...), png images are surrounded by light blue, sIFR titles are missing, commas are missing from the navigation, and if the navigation is longer than the main content of the page, the bottom of the navigation is cut off and can't be scrolled to. My own computer has exactly the same version of IE and none of those problems.

Anybody have any ideas what the problem is? So far we've seen only one PC that does this, but one never really knows...

We affectionately call this issue the 'Windows ME' problem... (which stands for Meranda Edition).

Seth Meranda noted this issue a few months ago and we haven't heard of any other person with the same issue (until now).

Now that we have two machines, perhaps we can narrow this down to something identical between the two machines.

For some reason the sleight js isn't fixing pngs which causes the javascript interpreter to fall out. Could you try and check the box in the settings that displays script errors on the page.. and see if you can get a message about a script error?

If you can't find any error messages, I would start going through the extensions and objects like Flash etc... and perhaps Seth can start checking through the settings on his borked machine as well.

We checked the box for "Display a notification about every script error" and tried that with and without unchecking "Disable script debugging (Internet Explorer)". Same display problems, still no error messages. The little Windows flag in the corner just kept waving like IE was still trying to do something, and the status bar still said "(3 items remaining) Opening page http://www.unl.edu/gradstudies/... After a while we closed the window to put IE out of its misery.

If we knew what those 3 items were, that might be a clue. Otherwise this is probably too obscure to warrant much digging around in extensions and such.
