Postby wagler » Thu Nov 16, 2006 4:23 pm

I have a student who wants to use the UNL templates for their organization but they only have access to GoLive is that possible or do they need to have Dreamweaver.

Right now, we only distribute template in dreamweaver's DWT format. Multiple formats require quite a significant amount of support resources from our end, and dreamweaver(DM) is probably the most easily accessible web publishing software in this university. We even have various free ITG classes for it.

But the good news is you dont really have to own DM to use the template to create a web page. We use the DM's templating system so that users can easily update their pages with the latest template release. Although this privilege might not be available for non-DM users, they can still use the template source to create simple web pages.

Adobe on Dreamweaver and GoLive

Postby rcrisler1 » Wed Nov 22, 2006 2:25 pm

Since Adobe bought Macromedia last year, we've been wondering what would happen to GoLive. Well, there are now tea leaves to be read. On Sept. 18, Adobe issued a press release that essentially demoted GoLive to second class status: it was announced that in the forthcoming Creative Suite 2.3, Dreamweaver would replace GoLive as the suite's web authoring program. While Adobe maintains that it will continue to develop GoLive, it's clear that, as a business proposition, it only makes sense to merge the user bases of GoLive and Dreamweaver and concentrate on one professional web development program: Dreamweaver.
