Mime-type Links

Postby mmesarch1 » Wed Jan 17, 2007 10:51 am

HI,
At the Web Developer's Network meeting in Jan we talked about the Mime-Type Links. One of the possible options was to make these display automatically so that the style of everyone's page is the same. But then that there would be an option to turn them off if need be.

Is this going to happen?

I think I remember hearing that if you already have these added to a site with the "class" statement that they would not be duplicated if the automatic plan became real. Just checking to see if that is true.

Kind of curious if this can automatically happen anyways. It would have to recognize that a link has an file extension with appropriate Mime extension.

Thanks.

Mark,

I am using it on our pages (http://admissions.unl.edu). I posted a thread on how I got it to work.

http://ucommdev.unl.edu/webdev/community/viewtopic.php?t=321

This code is only for .pdf files. I currently don't have a need for any other file type, but the same process could be implemented.

Take a look at it and let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
