Jon Noble, EEO, presented on AJAX.
He showed several frameworks including mootools.net, script.aculo.us, basecamp.
There are several available AJAX elements for the UNL website ... of particular interest to most any website is the events feed, which brings your events directly into a DIV element that you can place on your website's maincontent area. An example is at www.unl.edu/webdevnet. Documentation for implementing this events feed is at http://www1.unl.edu/wdn/wiki/Extracting ... e_Calendar
Brett Bieber demoed Tamper Data and Firebug debugging tools. These tools can help you see what's going on behind the scenes; what your code is doing and why.
It may make sense for our users to present a common set of 'supported' functions that are distributed along with the UNL templates; an adjunct to the Content Area Resources (http://ucommdev.unl.edu/webdevnet/docum ... tent.shtml) on the Web Developer Network site ... such as an AJAX slideshow, now under development. Have a look at that and send in your comments/complaints/suggestions: http://ucommdev.unl.edu/ajax_slideshow/
Next meeting 6/10, 2pm. Meetings ongoing asynchronously on this board, synchronously on the IRC chatroom at irc://irc.freenode.net/unl_wdn.
