FWIW, I asked some coworkers to share their impressions of the top 7 designs, and here's what was said about this one:
* "Sample #7 - NO. The curvy shape at the top does not fit with a university."
* "# 7 - Nice layout but colors do not closely represent UNL and I'm just not to hot on the swirly thing."
* "#7: I like the swirl at the top of the page. The N looks weird - I think the 3-d effect is a little off here. The navigation seems a little plain and I'm not a big fan of gray text - it doesn't print well."
* "#7 - At first the swirl appeals to me as a departure from blockiness, but then I realize that it's saying something other than "serious, reputable research university", which could be a problem."
