I have a question about the WDN meeting.
Q: Security and flash?
A: Flash has a history of security related problems. With regards to video, there was a recommendation on using HTML 5 video instead of a flash wrapper if the browser supports it.
First of all, what exactly is the history of security problems with Flash? I've been a Flash developer for 12 years and until the iPhone and iPad came out, I had never heard of any security problem. If I take a movie file, export it as .FLV, embed the .swf in a webpage and display a video. What's the security problem with that?
I know Apple's latest mobile devices quit supporting Flash. Fortunately, less than 1% of our visitors use a iPhone or iPad to view the site, while 97.5% of have Flash installed.
To create a consistent web experience with our website users, how exactly do you create Flash equivalents with HTML5? Is there an application like Flash? What is the code to embed movies with HTML5? Do all browsers support HTML5?
