Filling the 4th column: widgets? suggestions?

As mentioned else where in these forums, it is not a good idea to have text fill all four columns. The default font size leads to very long lines and is not readable. Thus, I've been using the 3-1 column format for most of my pages. This leaves the question: what do you do with the 4th column?

The related links, contact info, etc. is now in the footer, so what does that leave? Does anyone have any interesting widgets (UNL Calendar? Embedded stills from the HD web cameras?) that can be included in the 4th column? Nothing major or distracting, but something to fill the whitespace.

The 'sharedcode/sharedColumn.html' file included with the templates has some sample content.

That file has a calendar widget, and a rotating promo image, but I've seen zenboxes containing links to recent blog posts or other rss feed items.

...and sometimes I prefer the whitespace.
