I found these interesting sites, or prototypes...

these are all samples of the background image behind the fixed width content page in the center...

http://www.lucidcrew.com/
http://www.jeremyboles.com/
http://www.cplworldtour.com/ (this has nice rounded corners too)

I like this one especially because the horizontal picture bar contains a nice graphic that changes once you click on the navigation links, as well as the title of the page. It's stylized really nicely as well. Aesthetically looks very cool...

This prototype has some examples of what we can do with background colors for the grids (in case we have time to develop a content design "database), but it's got the "label" effect I was talking about this morning... as well as the drop shadow delineating the content area on both sides of the fixed-width frame...

These sites also has that effect...

an idea

Postby heather » Mon Feb 20, 2006 3:49 pm

Hey Group,

I was messing around with some of the elements that I really liked from the first go round of design reviews.

1. I really liked the menu on the left side with some description
2. I really liked the static menu on the top like we talked about today
3. I really liked the pop out window that Aaron suggested in his design
4. I really like the floating photos in the menu on the cornell site.
5. I really liked the textured background for the red area also like we talked about today.

So let me know what you think.

I finished cleaning up yesterday's PSD...

If you guys want to get it and make tweaks to it, that'd be great...

Here's the link to access it:

Yo guys,

How do you like the format of this macromedia page? Little shadows on the corners (I'm not too sold on the borders), and a cool thing...

The page header is not on a rounded box... what if we did something like that with the UNL links at the top and a page header as part of the background, like here:

http://www.macromedia.com/

Hope the finishing up of the design went well...

Have a good weekend...

Postby rcrisler1 » Fri Feb 24, 2006 6:12 pm

Me likey the Macromedia page. Always have. It was the one really nice page we could point to when people harangued us about our second-level navigation.

Here are the PSDs from today. There are two, one from 4pm and the other from 4:30.

The 4:00 one
The 4:30 one

Next meeting, Tuesday the 28th from 1-3pm, 321 Canfield (assuming I can get the room).
