Content for Prototyping

Postby rcrisler1 » Wed Feb 15, 2006 5:16 pm

It looks to me like the Scholarships and Financial Aid site could use a bit of an upgrade. So let's use content from that site in the prototype pages. One particular page within scholfa that might be used as a standard is the All-University Scholarships for Freshmen page at:

http://www.unl.edu/scholfa/freshman1_schol.html

I've posted a couple of pictures in a directory at

http://ucommdev.unl.edu/ngrg/downloads/pixforprototyping/

Those seemed appropriate for Scholarships and Financial Aid; if there are others you'd want to nominate, by all means do so.

The entire photo library is at http://ucommdev.unl.edu/webdev/gallery/

There's no doubt that other content will be tossed around to be added to your design. If you're going to do that, please share that content with the other groups. What we want to avoid is to have the focus groups responding to content above other things ... we should, in the final analysis, try to present the same content in three different ways.

Aaron Grauer, of Gruppo Moderno, suggests the following image as our standard prototyping image:

I thought the main body text was going to be from the freshmen scholarship page:
//
"All-University Scholarships for Freshmen

For scholarship consideration, incoming freshmen must complete an Admissions Application and submit supporting documentation by January 15th, as well as take the ACT or SAT by the December national test dates. You may apply for admission via the online admission application available at admissions.unl.edu/apply.

Completing the above requirements is all that is necessary to be given consideration for awards offered by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. Some awards are also offered through individual colleges and departments within the University. If you are admitted into an academic college at the University (other than General Studies), your name and application information will be available for review by the college in which you have been admitted. Some colleges and departments require additional information; therefore, we suggest you personally contact these colleges and/or departments for more information.

Incoming freshmen will be awarded scholarships based upon their academic profile which takes into consideration their high school rank in class at the end of the sixth semester as well as their highest composite score on the ACT or SAT examinations.

Regents Scholarship
The Regents Scholarship is awarded to outstanding incoming freshmen who are graduates of Nebraska high schools. The scholarship is valued at full tuition for up to 135 credit hours or the completion of a bachelor's degree, whichever occurs first. The scholarship is renewable as long as a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 is maintained (or a student ranks in the upper 25% of the relevant class in a degree-granting undergraduate college), 24 credit hours are completed each academic year (fall and spring semesters), and a minimum of nine graded hours (not pass/no pass) are completed each semester.

Nebraska Top Scholars
The Nebraska Top Scholars Award is given to outstanding incoming freshmen who are graduates of Nebraska high schools. It provides full tuition in the form of a Regents scholarship plus at least $1,500 in additional scholarship awards from UNL and/or the University of Nebraska Foundation (University, college or department awards). The award is renewable for up to four years. Renewal criteria is the same as the Regents scholarship.

David Distinguished Scholarship
The David Distinguished Scholarship is awarded to outstanding incoming freshmen. The award is valued at $1,000 a year for up to four years. The scholarship is renewable as long as a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 is maintained, 24 credit hours are completed each academic year (fall and spring semesters), and a minimum of nine graded hours (not pass/no pass) are completed each semester.

Canfield Scholarship
The Canfield Scholarship is awarded to Nebraska residents who have demonstrated superior academic achievement. The scholarship provides $1000 the freshman year only. "

I only ask because there isn't much text to work with for the upperclass scholarship. It only fills up a small part of our page, and leaves a lot of extra white space.

If we used the freshmen scholarship it provides plenty of text, where we can use as much or as little as we would like, but at least we'll have enough to fill the page.
